ashley experienced her first crawfish boil last weekend. she was so intrigued by the crawfish! she played and played with them until one of the bigger ones (not pictured) actually pinched her on the fingers. yes, if left a mark and she was brought to tears, but we took care of him. take this as a hint of what i will do when little boys will hurt my daughter! :)
for easter ashley received a book titled "bedtime prayers". since she got it we read one prayer, her pick, before she drifts off to sleep. tonight it was The Shepherd Blesses. it goes like this: The Shepherd Blesses The Lord will bless those who fear him, from the smallest to the greatest. Psalm 115:13 What is a blessing? What is it like? Is it a puppy, a flower, a bike? A blessing is something that brings you joy. It might be a pet, and it could be a toy. A blessing is something good for you, And often it will teach you too. THe Shepherd will send them, bundled with care. Just look! His blessings are everywhere! Dear God, thank You for putting Your blessings all around me. Amen. usually after we read a prayer we will talk about it. first off i ask her if she knows what another word for Shepherd is. she knows that answer is God. tonight we talked about the different blessings in our lives. i had told her she was a blessing to me as was emily and daddy and even max! our house was a blessing. and... "ummm mommy, food is a blessing." that's right ashley, food is a blessing. she has a one track mind, all day, every day!
today at ashley's school was tiny texans day. they got to sit on a pony for a picture and then ride around on another pony. ashley took the picture but didn't ride around... she was too scared to do so. pony ride or not, i think she was the cutest cowgirl ever!
after our fun at christmastime we got to turn around and have a fun month of celebrating birthdays in january. here are some photos of ashley's big day. she continually tells us she wants to be five or three because we continually tell her that four year olds don't suck their thumbs. she tries to get her way on this but luckily has been a good sport about trying to suck her thumb. we are definitely very proud of her for tackling this!!
we had lots of fun this year for christmas! it was emily's first christmas and ashley just loved opening all the presents. in fact she thought every present was for her. little did she know that wasn't the spirit of christmas and we had to have lots of talks about her wanting everything. she did really good after those talks. so we started off the holiday season traveling to the chicago area. it was so much fun and ashley got to play in the snow alot! it wasn't bitter cold so it made it great for building snowmen! ashley also got to play out in the snow with daddy. they went on a mouseketeer adventure. they had so much fun! i almost wonder if daddy had more fun than ashley. :) here is just a precious picture of our big girl with the cutest rosy cheeks! daddy did try sledding down the kid hill of which he broke the hill and the sled. luckily they got to go to the big sled hill one night and there he didn't break anything. then it was ashley's turn to go sledding. good thing grandpa knows how to make the perfect size hills for little girls! after all the sledding ashley came in the house and she made gingerbread sleighs with grandma. another fun moment while visiting chicago! the finished product. a picture of emily opening her very first christmas present. and here is a cute picture of the girls looking outside and playing nicely. after our awesome trip to visit grandma and grandpa we had to go home. it was nice to get back home but we sure did miss chicago! here are the girls on christmas eve in their matching outfits (i just love dressing them alike! not sure how much longer that will happen so i am going to do it every chance i get!) and then of course christmas morning. they had so much fun seeing what santa brought them. too much I am sure! :) one last picture... of the christmas card that was never sent out. long story but i wasn't happy with the printing and decided i wasn't going to send anything. so i am sorry if you all didn't get a christmas card from us this year! it wasn't because we don't care. :)
i have been horrible at updates! i am so sorry but life is really so much different with two. so let's see what i can do to make up for all the lack of pictures, etc. :)
the other day i found ashley in our room behind some pillows playing with her finger puppets. she was happy as a little lark just sitting there using the pillows in front of her as a stage. it was cute to watch but hard to capture because the moment she saw the camera he attention was diverted and she starting saying cheese for teh camera with that fake three year old smile she has these days... anyway... here is what i did get on camera.
